This book had three of my favorite things in a book- maps, picture inserts, and a gorgeous cat. It's also a heart-warming story of a man, a cat, and their adventures. I tore through it in less than a day. I picked up this book because of a book club, and I hadn't heard of Dean, Nala, or their Instagram account before this. Now I'm a follower!

Solid 4.5 stars.

Makes me want to pack up my belongings (my chocolate Burmese included), and go travel the world.

What a wonderful story! Nala changed the trajectory of Dean’s life after he spotted her as a little kitten on the side of the road. With his story you get to experience a bit of the world, which is really cool. Absolutely would recommend! Especially if you have a cat to cuddle while reading!

Book Riot Read Harder Challenge: Read a book about a beloved pet where the pet doesn't die.

Well, this is as adorable as I expected! I follow Dean and Nala on Instagram, so I knew some of their backstory already, but I appreciated seeing their journey unfold in greater detail. Dean is vulnerable here, sharing his fears and anxieties about not only biking around the world, but also taking care of an abandoned kitten. (I could have done with less of how many "stupid" things he had done over the years, but that's okay.)

This book is a great companion to Dean's social media accounts and an excellent reminder to savor the positive elements of life and take risks every once in a while.

I've been following Dean and Nala since the Dodo video first got posted and they are my happy place on social media.

They are total soulmates and I adore them!

They are also hitting the road again as of 30 September 2021 so exciting times ahead and hopefully book two in the making!

Cute but contrived/formulaic. Read it more for the storyline than for literary pleasure.

I don't normally read these genre of books but this book was absolutely brilliant. Loved it from beginning to end and would be willing to read it again! Would highly recommend.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get round to reading this considering I am a big fan of his Instagram account!

4.5 stars.
A totally heartwarming tail (deliberate misspelling) about a guy biking across Europe, and getting adopted by a lovely, friendly female kitten.
Dean Nicholson, in a desire to turn his life around, begins biking across Europe, with the intention of ending up in Thailand. Several things keep interrupting his journey, though being adopted by Nala was the best thing that happened for both of them. It's a sweet story, and Nala sounds wonderful.

(I also could not help thinking, the whole time I was listening to this book, just how many doors kept opening for this white guy. I can't imagine his reception by strangers, including border guards, would have gone so easily had Dean been brown, or a woman.)
