Gripping fictional story that while I am not sure has ever happened, is close enough to real life to read like a journal entry of the worst day of someone's life.

Am I the only one who felt like whistling The High and the Mighty while reading? A great thrill a minute read. Tons of technical info but told in such a way that you could actually understand what was going on. One catastrophe and natural disaster after the other started to stretch belief but it was so well written and so entertaining that it was easy to forgive.
