DNF’d 40% in. The actual concept on these beings was mildly interesting, but in practice it was mostly Harlan pulling the pigtails of the girl he likes, and not much better social dynamics than that, to be honest. I’m sure that it would have gone somewhere but it was honestly insufferable to continue dealing with the dynamics. I’m guessing it would be a metaphor for two schools of philosophical thought regarding the ways in which humans exert control, but it is so annoying that it rapidly devolved into Harlan being a man child right after the setting is somewhat established! I just don’t care!

Wow. A short book that I had zero expectations for, and ended up loving it. But I have always been a sucker for time travel stories. Sort of an alternative reality to Asimovs other scifi with time travel instead of space travel. Lots of similar vibes to the Loki tv series too. Great quick read if you’re into classic scifi.

Aunque en general fue una lectura entretenida, no ha sido tan buena como esperaba. El inicio se me hizo algo aburrido y cierto lío de faldas que hay como a la mitad todavía peor. Sin embargo cuándo empieza la ciencia ficción dura (hay muy poca para mí gusto) mejora bastante. El final ha estado muy bueno.

É um fantástico livro com uma história cativante e cheia de informações técnicas de como funciona a sociedade eterna com suas regras e o pseudo cuidado com a humanidade. Na verdade eles estavam preocupados em cortar as asas da evolução nos atrasando para conquista do espaço e das viagens espaciais. No final quase foi o fim da humanidade!
