I love how this book is written. It is one thought passing on to another. The author tells the story of a woman’s journey from war-torn Saigon, Vietnam, to a refugee camp in Malaysia, to starting a new life in Montreal. I loved the flow of the story, jumping from present to past and back again. Images of despair and struggling to scenes of hope and prosperity. Loved it!

A lovely, spare, gutting tale. Written absolutely beautifully. The translation is a huge success and captures the beauty of the tale perfectly.
