I really liked this one even though the ending was a) lame b) vague and c) not what I might call plausible. I liked it because of the series, this was the first to have a plot that included real stakes for both the Pitts and for Emily, especially for Emily.

Another thing - there is no way, I mean I really cannot believe, that a person could be tied by the hair to a bedpost and thus strangled. I don't even know why someone would think that was a good idea, and by "someone" I mean the character who allegedly did it in the book, and also Anne Perry herself.

I really liked this installment of Charlotte & Thomas but there was a section of the book that dragged for me and subsequently drags it down from 4 stars to 3 for this reader. In the beginning the POV is Emily's (Charlotte's sister) and even though not very much was happening I was really drawn into the drama. Then a murder happens and Charlotte and Thomas join us with their POV's. During this portion of the novel we hear basically the same things about the short list of suspects but 3x through each POV- I could have done without reading the same thoughts from all 3 people.

Parts of a woman’s body are found in Bloomsbury, a crime that seems unsolvable from the very start, as the victim and the murderer are completely unknown. Meanwhile, in Cardington Crescent the murder of Lord Ashworth draws Charlotte and Inspector Pitt into high society yet again, this time trying to solve the murder of Charlotte’s sister’s husband, with Emily being the prime suspect. The suspicion of Emily does not dim with the murder of the woman Lord Ashworth had been flirting with. Family secrets are uncovered as the investigation into the deaths continues, and there are those who have much to hide. Anne Perry has a way of drawing the reader into the story and making the characters come to life. And while the murder of the woman found in Bloomsbury is completely separate from the murders in Cardington Crescent, Ms. Perry ties the two together, again forcing the reader to see the stark differences between how the high class and the lower class live all the while reminding us that murder and scandal can occur anywhere.

De libros que he leído sobre el inspector Thomas Pitt este es el mas me gustado. Muy emocionante, y a la vez muy bien escrito. Las descripciones de la época vitoriana, de sis costumbres y des sus defectos muy bien hechas, pero lo que en esta entrega impresiona es la descripción casi analítica de el papel de las mujeres, sobre todo de la aristocracia, en ese periodo de la historia de Inglaterra.
Muy buen libro.

Este ha sido uno de los libros de misterio que más me ha gustado en mucho tiempo.
Argumentos negativos de esta novela:
-El principio de la historia de Emily es muy lento y se me hizo un poco cuesta arriba
- Parecido a el argumento anterior es que había escenas muy detalladas y se hacia aburrido de leer
-Esto no lo considero algo negativo pero el final se me ha quedado corto o soso , yo me esperaba otra cosa, algo más impactante

Argumentos positivos de esta novela
-Me ENCANTA todo el drama de los secretos de familia y todo lo que engloba los problemas que tenia entre si me encantaba, las discusiones el las comidas, las indirectas de las abuelas...
-Los personajes me encantan en el sentido de que la autora hace que odies mucho a algunos (Eustance , la abuela March)y hace que sientas mucha empatía hacia otros
- Que este ambientado en la época victoriana.Me encantan las novelas que están ambientadas en épocas antiguas
- He conseguido adivinar al asesino , no se si por que era muy fácil de deducir pero me ha hecho muy feliz poder adivinarlo .

En resumen este libro en mi opinion tiene mas argumento a favor que en contra siento que aunque no llega a el 5 ha sido una lectura muy amena y divertida.
