I’m actually gonna give this a 3.5. I thought the witchy vibes were pretty good and I did love the plot twist but I feel Ms.Good made no damn sense with her reasoning of turning her best friend into a monster. If she was considered family to you wouldn’t you be supporting every decision they make? Maybe I’m crazy but it just a stupid reasoning in my opinion. i found Noreen’s sympathy for Karla so sudden and weird considering what she had went through which was NOT pretty. However I do appreciate it because what Karla was trying to do should not have gotten her shunned. There is nothing wrong with finding who you are and where you from and I kinda wish this story went more in depth with that concept. I find it interesting that a lot of the witches don’t know their past which I think is worth learning more about in this story and could have been possible to discuss the idea of black people not knowing their history because of black American’s being moved in different countries cause of slavery. It’s a real issue and something that I struggled with for awhile and with Karla being black it would have tied together well in my opinion.

What a beautiful story. Dark academia, found family, and witchcraft. Perfect for a chilly evening read.

So I did like it. What's not to like? Young magicians in a beautifully drawn, Hogwart's-like setting. The characters were personable and well fleshed out.
Unfortunately, I thought the plotting held the story back. I know the headmistress witch wanted to obstruct the search for the missing girl but how did she accomplish this? And after the headmistress witch is exposed why are everyone so eager to join her side against the monster in the woods? And most irksome, why couldn't somebody (either in authority or her friends) praise Abigail for her bravery, loyalty and determination in finding a lost friend instead of telling her to be meek, quiet and toe the line of authority?

This was pretty fun! The four stars are mostly for the art and the character design which are both outstanding. The plot is fine! Relatively well-paced and the characters are interesting enough, though I wish they'd been a little better developed. This felt very much like it would make a nice little set with Maggie Tokuda-Hall's Squad and that's a compliment!

This was more cutesy than I was expecting? It also really felt like there should be more to the story than there was. The illustrations were nice, though.

It’s like a Harry Potter-esque vibe featuring LGBTQ+ characters. I’d give it 4.5 stars, the artwork was beautiful and I enjoyed it. Some of the plot was a little too similar to Harry Potter but it was a cute and easy read.
