This made me cry. A quick read about a boy and his dog, and the bonds that hold them together even after they are apart.
Moderate: Animal cruelty and Animal death

I liked the descriptions of what life was like in Texas in the 1860’s, and how Travis comes to love Old Yeller. However I’m very glad I never read this as a kid because this book was traumatizing.

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE. In all seriousness though, this is one of my favorite books of all time and it has left such a mark on me. I still think about it regularly, which is big for me considering I read it in fourth grade. I remember loving the writing style so much and really connecting with the characters, and I'm thinking that next time I pick it up I'll find the story to be just as heartbreaking, heartwarming, and overall enjoyable as before.
