Really enjoyed the family and romance in this one! When Nana meets Tye at her sister-cousin-friend's activism group, she tells a few lies to impress him. That's fine until he shows interest in her, and she has to keep pretending to be a vegetarian activist. How is she going to sort it all out and figure out how to show herself some love?

Really enjoyed this book. It was diverse and focused on a black community in a hopeful way. Plus gave representation for plus sized woman and knowing their self-worth & self-love. It’s definitely YA so keep that in mind but I felt inspired by it once I was done.

In a time of a lot of performative and rushed activism, this book was a really good interrogation of what activism actually means for you. The main character explores who she is and who she wants to be in the world, finding meaning radical acception of herself and working from there. Overall it was a really refreshing message.

The book started really good, but in the end it somehow felt a bit flat for me. It’s a great summer read nonetheless! It’s a story about finding yourself amongst everything!
