this story presents a refreshingly nuanced and almost-too-realistic depiction of anxiety and mental illness—particularly for a historical fiction piece—and i really connected with adrian in that way. i found myself falling in love with the characters in this installment, particularly seeing the ways in which they’ve grown and triumphed in the ~20 years since book 2. 

the only thing that fell short was that i wanted to see more of louisa!! she should have joined them on the expedition!!

i’m not big on ambiguous endings but this one was done quite well, plus i LOVED the addition of the wedding epilogue. idc if it’s fan service, i wanted to be at that gay backyard picnic wedding so mf bad!!

Delightful. Much like Monty, I was ready to dislike Adrian but I'm 100% team Gremlin now. I love how the book dealth with a heavy subject in a thoughtful way that also aligned with the message that you are not your condition/illness. The ending was perfect, I wouldn't have it any other way for this series.

Adrian. AAAAADRIAN. unfortunately fell into a slump with audiobooks but i came back around to finish this series. Quite possibly my favorite of the Montague siblings and their books. plotwise,
I still wish felicity were a girl kisser (and i wish there was more percy)
but the book held my attention once i got into the groove of it. and i made at least one franklin expedition joke to myself. a delight 🧭

I’ve been avoiding this book since it was published simply because I didn’t want their story to end. I’ve grown to love these characters so much and letting them go, well, it’s hard. I loved getting to know Adrian, who was a baby when the first and second book took place. And I loved getting to see Monty and Felicity back. I would’ve loved to see more of Percy, but this series is called the Montague Siblings for a reason! Oh, the ending HAD ME in tears, but happy ones! I really enjoyed this book and it was a great way for me to wrap up my August reads!!

Mackenzi Lee has punched me in the face with all three of these books in a way that's made me examine how I perceive the world. I love it. I love the glimpses (through his anxiety) we see of how the other characters view Adrian. These booka are so fun, and Adrian perfectly embodies the youngest sibling, I adore him. I also appreciate the connection he made with the other younger brother, Saad.

I do think that this one fell a little short in terms of character development, compared to the first two books. I kept waiting for it to dive into more detail about how he learned to live with his anxiety, but it ended up leaving that as more of an afterthought. I wish we'd gotten a bit more of that, but I still enjoyed it.
