Few books in my house got as much love as this book. I rarely re-read books, but this one was dog-eared. Great plot for pre-teens and kept my interest in a time where video gaming usually won my attention. I still think about this book from time to time, like today at age 30, so I had to review it.

This is one of the first books I remember reading for a summer reading program growing up. I would have been in elementary school and I found it in our public library. I loved this book so much and to this day it is one of my favorites. I Re-read it several times as a kid and as I grew older I kept re-reading it about once a year. There is something so nostalgic about this book that immediately makes me feel more relaxed and less stressed. I’ve read it to my nephews and have, over the years, purchased several copies whenever I find it in a used bookstore. The plot itself is so much fun and the world feels really well built especially for a children’s book that is not very long. It’s just such a satisfying adventure and perfect for young readers.

This book captivated me when I was nine.

I decided to revisit it recently, to find out that it is the first book in the "orb trilogy," which means I might read two more books.
