A main character tells a young character that they had
accidentally killed the young character's whole family
before the young character was hatched... And the young character has no reaction at all to the news. I was honestly expecting this revelation to come out and cause a rift and when it was just... 'Oh, cool, okay' I 'fell out' of the book. I finished it but didn't really care anymore.
There were other things to that didn't make sense. 'why not just...?'

Written for children, but an enjoyable little tale for adults as well. Note that this is part of a series and ends on a cliffhanger, in case you don't prefer such stories (or just want to make sure you have the next book available). On the audiobook version, it is a bit odd that the producers decided to add music and sound effects just to the last few chapters (and not the most skillfully done-- it's somewhat distracting).
