Liked it even better than the first. The characters developed well and it was just fun. Totally recommend this series.
The elements in the book are becoming more predictable, but it is still a funny and light read
In all honesty, I loved the first one better. That is not to say that this novel is not good, far from it but it just did not do it for me as much.
Very readable.
My only complaint is that the books are too short. Not in terms of page length, but more in terms of background. The lack of explanation and context adds to the quick pace of the books, but leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

Just to take one example: the "gang" that plays such a central role in the plot and supplies so many of the secondary characters--it's not clear to me why they would have accepted Claire so easily. Nagging questions like that distracted me from the story sometimes.Spoiler
This was good clean fun but I'm not sure exactly *why* the evil fiance is quite so awful, which makes it harder to get into this series. Sure, he's a penniless baron and a sexist jerk, but why does he insist on getting Claire in particular? Otherwise good stuff. I like the hen a lot.
I really enjoyed this one, especially the last half of the novel. It was really fun to better get to know the characters and I love it when Claire kicks ass.
I wasn't expecting to be able to read all of these (my library doesn't have them), but someone in one of my books clubs can "loan" them to me via Amazon, so I'm excited to continue this series now! In this book Claire has become a Governess and mother figure to quite a few orphans/lost souls and takes to the job surprisingly well. She pushes forward to be an engineer and gain entrance to the Engineering school, only to have a wrench thrown into her plans with a surprise proposal...but things don't work out as her suitor would like.
A "lost" child is found and not only are new friendships formed, but new and unexpected opportunities are presented to Claire and the children. Oh and she breaks a "lunatic" out of Bedlam, only she's not what people think she is and I foresee her making another appearance in the future. While a particular piece of technology is front & center in this story, the rest of it just blends with the scenery and isn't thrown at you to make this "feel" like a steampunk novel, it just is. Can't wait to start the next book!

Adina does a magnificent job of crafting a steampunk rich world.
I felt her characters became more complex in this installment. I felt a range of emotions in response to their actions. Claire seemed more flawed in this book, but it actually made her more relate-able. I am emotionally invested in her overcoming her mistake.
