I really enjoyed this one. When reading this one you can feel the pain Rachel and Colt have in their hearts from the past. I really loved Colt. He feels like he can't have it all and be happy because he's going to turn into someone like his father then his world is turned upside down when Rachel finally reveals her secret she's been keeping for the last five years. Rachel has learned she can only count on herself, but what will she do when Colt steps up to the plate? Can she let her guard down and take a chance? The ending in this one was perfect and left my heart with a happy sigh.
Three and a half
I really liked Rachel and Colt. This was a good second chance romance. While this book didn't pull me in and make me feel like I had to flip the pages and finish...it was a good story and worth a read.

This book wasn't good or bad. It just didn't inspire anything in me. I could relate to the characters or form any kind of attachment to them. It was just okay. I think the relationship should have been more of a struggle considering both their tramatic pasts. There should have been more emotions more internal conflict, it was just too simple to be engaging. I wanted more but it just wasn't there.

I loved this book! It's packed with emotional depth that pulls you in and makes you feel everything the characters feel. Characters are well developed and the story is fast-paced. Terrific read!
I really had a hard time enjoying this book! Both Rachel and Colt had a lot of issues from their childhood, which made them closed off emotionally, and scared of commitment and of having children. They took it out on each other, which made the book was filled with sniping at one another! I also had a major problem with Rachel . While it was a fairly quick read, it was not an enjoyable one, and I would not recommend this to other readers.
Spoiler
keeping the fact that she was pregnant from Colt, all because he treated he exactly like the one night stand she was and snuck out. And what happened to using birth control like a condom?!
This is my first read for JM Stewart.
Colt is a soldier just retiring and coming back to his home town to take care of some business. What he actually finds will for ever change him.
Rachel is the girl he left behind who has her heart guarded not just because of him but her whole past. Will she be able to trust him?
Loved the way we got to see how each character deals with their past, present and looks to the future.

Ms. Stewart's writing is very simple and easy to follow. Her characters are developed with each chapter. There were times I was frustrated because I felt like there were words that should have been said, but weren't... but at the same time, I understood why they weren't said. It's hard to have an honest conversation where you have to tell someone the truth no matter how ugly it is. It takes a strong person to do that that.
I liked the storyline of Greg being in danger (I feel like I should explain that... that sounds really terrible) bringing Colt and Rachel together. They were meant for each other and the relationship progressed... it went a little show for me at times, but I enjoyed the story.
