It's not that it wasn't good but I just didn't care for any of the characters enough
Also, I don't mind that the author doesn't really explain what the grand jeu is but I do mind that she didn't explain what it's place in this society is (very light spoiler) why are there people being persecuted? especially why christians? why does the grand jeu exist and why does the goverment finance it? why does it want to control it so much? what's the belief system in this society? I could go on...
Also, this book could've been absolutley queer and the fact that it isn't annoys me
