Was good, but the ending left a sour taste in my mouth.

february 2020: one of my all time favourite stories

august 2022: this remains a comfort read, the pinnacle of magical school tales. diana wynne jones crafts my favourite characters and i just adore her writing.

Just as much fun as her 'Dark Lord of Derkholem' book.

A delightful trip down memory lane. My sis and I read a ton of the Diana Wynne Jones books when we were kids. I loved seeing Elda as a main character, Griffin's are great.

There's some diversity in the book, a variety of characters from different lands, so fantasy diversity.

I devoured this book in the little free time I had yesterday, just couldn't put it down. Another fabulously delicious book by Jones that made me chuckle the whole way through.
It might be said that the ending is a bit too pretty. Never the less I am considering reading it again today. =)
