Second time reading this one and very much enjoy it. Interesting mystery and love the 2 main characters. I want to read the other story in the series.

This thriller really crosses over Nora's style with her J. D. Robb style. It's a nice overlap. Romance and murder and mystery galore.

This is one of Nora Robert's earlier works that seems to lack the suspense that she brings in later books. I like being kept on my toes all the way to the end of the novel, and it just didn't happen in this one.

i adored ed’s character in the first book so i was anticipating to love it in his book too but the ugly plot spoiled it for me. the romantic line was nonexistent. ed asked fmc to marry him after they had sex for the first time and had known each other for a couple of weeks.

didn’t like kath the sister. she was bitter and angry at the world.
maybe it’s bad but i was relieved when she was killed off.

that rape scene was unnecessary. wtf was wrong with the series?

i became very annoyed when fmc grace began playing detective and trying to investigate. then she got the job that got several women killed.

at least they identified the killer before he attempted to murder the main character.

honestly this was fun enough throughout that I’m gonna give it 4 stars but it’s definitely 3.5 bc of the incredibly abrupt ending, imo.

this is my third Nora Roberts and my first older one and just whewwwww this is the most 80’s book I’ve ever read in my entire life, just every single chapter having some reference to the important of “eating healthy”, how disgusting and weird artichokes apparently are, smoking non-stop, Tina Turner being on the radio, sex phone lines, whole wheat pizza, etc. if it hadn’t also had an entire chapter that was just like “this woman is fat and therefore DISGUSTING and has never known love and that’s why she has a made up phone sex persona” it would’ve been the most delightful throwback ever.

as is it’s still pretty good overall and I do like that at the very least she never seemed to shame any of the sex workers, which is like such a low standard to have but hey it was the 80’s so…

i really enjoyed this book! i think it was my first nora roberts. i liked the mystery in the plot, the characters, the plot twists, the ending and the writing style. i read it on audiobook in spanish (and it wasn’t an option on here to label it that way) and i really liked it! will be reading other nora roberts’ books in the future!

I loved this book. I was truly bummed out when it ended. I wanted more and I love that about Nora's books. I really enjoy reading her books in between other books that are heavy or serious.
