A really calming and engaging read, but as a patient who deals with doctors all the time I got pretty distressed about the way they treated their patients (regardless of outcome). So if you have feelings about the medical system, this may not be the book for you.

I like this series very much.
I listen at night to fall asleep so I'm not looking for lots of plot turns.
The narrator is excellent.

Loved the audio version of this book. I listened to it while knitting an Aran sweater. The reader of the book did a fanatic job.

A delightful story, about, Barry Laverty, a young doctor trying to get settled in a small Irish town. He's hired by a robust older doctor, a war veteran, and a man who does things his way. It takes quite a bit of getting used to, but Barry soon learns, and comes to love the quirky town and its wide array of characters. There is laughter, comfort, charm, and down home goodness.
