What a fever dream of a book. The concept worked, although I get reservations about the ending. The writing is enthralling, the narrator has a really strong voice and is clearly defined in all her layers and murkiness. It is a cold book (and do check the content warnings because it’s a lot), but also a little bit tender. It made me think, all along, may I never be or feel like that. But the narrator is aware of her world, of the game of rich and pretty she’s both winning and losing at. Finishing this book feels like walking out of a movie into daylight. I’m left engulfed, squinting, having spent a few hours in a life so distant from mine it can only have grown my empathy.

The book inspired me to sleep a lot while in a depression haze, but it also inspired me to clean up my place and get rid of stuff that didn't make me happy.
All in all this is an amazingly written book, a really good representation of trauma and depression and one that's absolutely gonna stay with you for a while.

I never thought I'd find a someone who needs proper therapy more than me but I've been proven wrong. So much yet so little happened. It was a really accurate depiction of depression. As someone who's experienced almost exactly what the main character has, I can sympathise with her although she's not very likeable. The main star was definitely her best friend.

juste incroyablement bizarre et addictif. le plot d’origine est complètement décalé mais il fait sens. je me suis vue beaucoup dans la personnalité des deux protagonistes que l’on suit tout au long du livre et au delà de leurs personnalités prétentieuse, on s’immisce dans le mental de deux millennials au début des années 2000 qui se cherchent dans une société qui ne les voient déjà plus. bref c’était génial !
à lire avec des pincettes surtout si les tw vous touchent de près ou de loin ;)

The main character is hard to like, she's rude and distant, but in many ways painfully relatable. The book looks at depression and untreated trauma in a way that is honest and cruel. It balances sympathy with disdain all at once and its a challenging subject to read.
