While the beginning really gripped me and I liked the writing, I felt like I needed a bit more in between with Nico's relationship to Peter and Ethan to truly feel invested. I could understand the attraction, certainly, but I didn't buy that they really liked him by the end of it. Overall, this was just fine.

I saw this book mentioned a few times during the Trans Rights Read-a-thon, and while I didn't officially participate, I did take notes! I added this to my TBR and knew I needed to read it right away. y'all...

I... am... BLOWN AWAY. I was thinking about this book for dayyssssss afterward. What a beautiful, poetic piece of literature! This novella is a peek into a significant moment in someone's life. Moon beautifully told a story that effortlessly blends together real modern life and magic. The main character, Ethan, is a witch, and the way he sees life and feels magic just feels so real. It has to be real, right???! Ethan and his husband rescue a selkie and help him heal from his injuries. What they didn't anticipate was how handsome and magnetic their selkie would be.

This is a standalone novella set in a Nordic fishing village in the fall. (The fall vibes are *chef's kiss*)

Unfortunately after I finished this book I found out some absolute HORROR shit the author has done so my conscious will not let me rate this any higher.

I hate when people are just bad and ruin things :)

Highlights:
This is my first work of Freydís Moon and I was so excited to finally read something by them. Ethan is such an interesting character. From the start Ethan and Peter's relationship got me hooked. I loved that it felt real. It wasn't magically perfect but they loved each other so much. I loved their relationship with Nico as well. The build up was done very well and felt natural. I liked that there wasn't any negative jealously and they had honest conversations about their attraction to him. I loved the magic and fae in this book. It's not over explained, it's just exists and is a hidden knowledge of the world.

Lowlights:
I wanted more. I wanted to know more about Nico and his life before being injured. We got a little information but I wanted more.

Horn Level: 4/5

The ritual called for innocence, and he had none to spare, so he searched the shoreline for white-petaled flowers— speckled with saltwater, yawning toward the sky...

I quite enjoyed this... that being said, I expected a little bit more from the book.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere and witchery this book contained and the amazing rep. But... the romance didn't end up quite doing it for me. I originally gave it four stars, but after discussing the book and letting it sit for a little bit, I think this deserves a solid strong three stars. I wish there was more of the worldbuilding I loved... also the book contains one fanficky trope
Spoilersex pollen
that I felt was unecessary...
But I overall liked the author's work and I will be checking up some more of their books. (I think I'll go for [b:Exodus 20:3|60095503|Exodus 20 3|Freydís Moon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1641835989l/60095503._SY75_.jpg|93030785])

What a sweet story. A beautiful rendition of polyamory, queerness, and more. I was so sad it was over and wanted to hear more. The spice was delish.

i wasn't expecting this to be so smut heavy 💀 would've preferred if that time was spent with more magic and the trio developing (better) emotional connections together.
but it's a cosy fantasy and my first poly book, so i'm happy i picked it up!
