Wow! I thought that Beau Barnett was a totally over the top alpha, but apparently he’s got nothing on his brother Huck! Very, very hot! He takes jealous possessive behavior to a whole new level. And Cora isn’t a docile, easily led heroine. She’s got opinions and stands up for herself. So good! I totally can’t wait to see which brother goes down next!

I'm slightly ashamed that I read this. If you want OTT alpha holes, this might do it for you or go too far as many of the reviewers said. The rest of the series is more acceptably over-the-top alpha main male leads.

I read this book in one day and needless to say, I am traumatized.
I am giving this book 3/5 stars because it was well written, a good storyline, and quality smut.
I need to talk about the MMC. Huck is a LUNATIC. Any man that does what he did to a woman is mentally unwell. Further, the ending of the book when he traps her in a cabin in the mountains, takes her phone and locks it in his GUN CABINET, refuses to apologize for anything, tells her that she can’t leave him, is the most messed up thing I have ever read in literature.
Huck had the ability to redeem himself with an apology. But no! He was deceptive and controlling and overall, scary.
This book may be for someone, well for many, it was recommended to me in a group on Facebook. But not for me!

Yeah so this book is so not ok. Huck’s actions are disgusting and his lack of remorse for lying to his partner, taking away her conformed consent and not even allowing her to have an ounce of space is awful. Their relationship can be described as toxic at best but boderline abusive at worst. Switching out birth control for placebos to purposely get your partner pregnant against their wishes is completely unforgivable yet Huck seems to have no qualms about doing that to the woman he so called “loves”. Also the random comments about her “becoming a lesbian” to escape men isn’t ok. You can’t just become lesbian when it’s convenient for you and it shouldn’t be joked about. Cora constantly and consistently throughout the book tries to have free will or just have alone time but is denied that all because of tuck’s feelings. Yeah the possessive hot broody guy trope can be hot but in this case it is not. If you’re the author and you see this I hope you know writing a relationship with a total lack of consent and communication is not ok.
I do not recommend this book. Though I enjoyed book 1 and loved the couple - the extreme lack of communication and consideration for cora’s wishes made me extremely uncomfortable and the way Huck forced her to get pregnant without her knowing makes me want to report him for SA. The ending of the book resolved absolutely nothing and Huck gets away with being a lying and creepy douchebag. This book perpetuates toxic relationships and makes them look “sexy” and “hot” when really the woman is trapped with no say and no power. Also her being referred to as a “sex toy” also did not sit right.

Oh my goodness where to being with this book?
Huck is everything I shouldn’t like in a man and tbh in real life I would have probably have punched his lights out, however he does make a so wrong but right kind of book boyfriend. He’s all alpha with a capital A, caveman and sometimes a complete and utter fool (and not the jester kind of fool) but I love him, sure there were quite a few times I hated him whilst reading but mostly I loved him.
Then there’s Cora, gah she’s a spitfire and I absolutely 100% adore her and frankly she deserves a medal for putting up with Huck. Also way to go for the punch lil lady
