i really enjoyed this book, especially with the intersection of armenian culture (something that i’ve never read much about) and a sapphic romance.

bonus points for a main character who is comfortable in their bisexuality, a happy ending and
an accepting family

The audiobook narrator😍😍😍 She really makes Nar come alive.

Despite her flaws, or because of them, Nar was an extremely relatable character. I understand the stress she carries, not wanting her sexuality to affect how her family is perceived in a small community. She makes a lot of mistakes, but grows from them, blossoming into her true self with the help of Erebuni.

Erebuni💛

Also I'm obsessed with Nar's grandmother, her Nene (unsure about spelling because of audiobook). So many strong women in this book!

I love Erebuni and all the descriptions about the Armenian culture. The food sounds incredible and I can't wait to try it someday. Nareh, on the other hand, was immature and selfish to the point where she was very unlikable. She kept making decisions without any regard for how it would affect other people. She kept things from Erebuni and lied to her mom making Erebuni seem like a predator which was super gross. Her apology left a lot to be desired and the fact that she was trying to go back and marry Trevor even though she knew she didn't love him like that. Whaaat? Why would you do that to him?

This is def a culturally specific book. Its brilliant writing is what makes it so good. The way the author was able to weave Armenian culture into a coming out narrative is awesome! I loved every minute of it!!!!

Full  of wonderful Armenian cultural events, food, history, and celebrations, this novel is joyous and rich, entertaining and emotional. I liked the friendships, family, and romantic love—though some ill-phrased sentiments made for hurt and anxiety, the true feelings sorted themselves in a believable, agreeable way. I might have liked to get out of Naure’s head and subjectivity, to see her better, but otherwise this is a gem of a romance novel.
