I have to admit that I did not read the first book in this series after receiving "Two Dead Wives" as an ARC. So I had to go back and get a synopsis of the first book before heading back into this follow up.

I figured out the amnesia plot line pretty quickly. Stacie's POV was so out of place and jarring, connecting those pieces was pretty easy.

Everyone else just moves so slowly and talks exactly the same way. These characters have ZERO personality.

The twists work pretty well though, and I think Parks is *almost* there in terms of a good thriller.

Over all, I just didn't connect with these characters entirely based on how they were written. Not sure it was worth writing a whole sequel. You definitely need to read the first book before diving into this one. But I would definitely give Adele Parks another chance.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know how many times this author is going to say the wife is a bigamist. I was so sick of the word by the end of the book. Like girl we get it, she was married to two men let's move on now. I liked the general premise, but ultimately the bad things overruled the good things. In the end, somehow the woman was the only character in the wrong and neither of the shitty men she was married to were wrong for anything...this screamed double standard to me. It was an easy read so if you want to fill your time with a quick, semi-interesting story then this book is good for that, but if not then don't waste your time.

This 400 pages book could have been 10 and that tells you everything about this book.

Wish I would have read Woman Last Seen first, but after reviews I thought it was just the same detective on a different case. Even without reading the first one, though, there was intrigue with the mystery and a solid plot. It’s emotional and zigzag-y and entertaining—as a good whodunnit should be.

Good story, but needed to be told in a lot less pages. It had a slow start.

I snagged this audiobook because it got some buzz at the beginning of the year and because I need something to get me through a days-long cleaning spree. I did not realize until I had literally finished the book that this was a sequel to a previous thriller by Adele Parks. Most of the issues I had with the book are probably solved within the pages of the previous novel.

Two Dead Wives follows DC Clements as she tries to solve the disappearance of Kylie Cunningham, a woman who had two different husbands. She's left behind Daan, who is the major suspect considering he lived in the same apartment that Kylie was kept captive in, and Mark who has permitted Kylie's best friend Fiona to move in to help care for his two sons, Seb and Oli. Meanwhile, a young woman named Staci is recovering from a brain tumor at the home of her father.

The one lingering issue I have with this book is the major villain of the novel.
Fiona definitely felt underdeveloped to me. Some of that might be due to the fact that I'd inadvertently skipped a book. Perhaps, Fiona's back story and drive are more complicated in the previous book-- she certainly would have had more of a presence. However, as it is, it's seems like a bad stereotype of an unhappy single woman. Fiona wants kids and a husband and so decides to murder her best friend because she has two of each? I want more information about why single motherhood wasn't for her, what wasn't working dating wise, the ways in which she felt casually excluded from Lee's family dynamics.

However, I'm impressed with Adele Parks' ability to write touching family dynamics within the pages of an intense suspense novel, and will probably try out a few of her other books when I'm in the mood.
