Just like the first Poldark book, this second book in the series gave me what I expected which would be a three star read. I gave the book another star for showing character development and depth (people who have multiple
feelings at once and more than one conflict in life coupled with good). The final star comes from the writing which, for me, flows in an interesting and comfortable way. Descriptions are not too wordy and characters don’t over explain.

My grandad was a miner in Scotland and England so I appreciate the subject and the accuracy of the storytelling of mining life in Britain.

It did end in an odd place in the storyline of the Poldark saga. If I had not seen the series this may have bothered me somewhat, but I know what happens next, so I'm not anticipating the next book as much.

I still love the story, and am still intrigued by what the current series has changed from the novels. Some characters in the novel have more depth, while others in the novel are a little less lovable than in the television series.

A fitting sequel that expands on everything that the first novel began to build. Graham definitely keeps the reader on their toes with this one and shows he’s not afraid to go dark places. If you liked Ross Poldark, you’ll like this book even more.

I just love this epic, sweeping drama.

Note this book is 521 pages long without the first chapter of the next book. Good reads page length is wrong.

2nd time reading this book and it did not bore me one bit.

Another great Cornish Saga from Winston Graham.

I look forward to the next book!

A nice sequel that gives the story and characters more dimension. Some plot points dragged on a bit at times.
