The Ancient Celts is a comprehensive and scholarly overview of the history and culture of the Celtic peoples, from their origins to their interactions with the classical world. While rich in detail and evidence, the book lacks the engaging readability and storytelling that make history come alive making it more suitable for scholars and students than for general audiences.

I read this for one of my courses and really enjoyed it (it gave me some writing material, haha). But I have no idea how to rate it so I won't, it was very interesting and informative though.

If you're looking for a good introduction to celtic history this is absolutely NOT the book you should read. It is very dense and goes deep into archaeological theory and practice. HOWEVER if you want a book that explains what we think about the ancient celts in past and present, brought together with the latest and best archaeological evidence, then this book is a fantastic resource. It has abundant pictures, maps, and diagrams that explain a great deal and give a scholarly and well researched overview of the ancient celts that leaves no stone unturned
