I love a twist but was hoping for something else….I really liked the characters and the idea of this story but I found the ending unsatisfying.
Well written captivating story that pulled me in from the start...a young girl in search of her mother who disappeared ten years ago, add a psychic and an ex detective who are brought into the mystery and of course elephants... we are on an adventure. The story is a four person narrative, creatively done, we become invested in their plight and what they reveal. An added bonus is all the information about elephants which is an education of these amazing animals. Highly recommend this story.
I usually enjoy reading Jodi Picoult's books but Leaving Time was very disappointing to say the least. It was a struggle just to finish the book.
A powerful story about love, loss, and the sacred connections we all share. Somehow, even with elephants. The book reveals their deep bonds, grief, and devotion while also revealing the heartbreaking ways humans harm and disrupt their world. It’s rare to find a novel that weaves scientific insights about animals’ intelligence and emotional complexity into the kind of moving and imaginative story that doesn’t just inform but invites us to feel awe and compassion for these incredible creatures.
