Fairly interesting Swedish whodunit, heavy on Swedish culture and names. A bit dated, but helps understand the culture. Many interesting twists and turns, all the way to the very end.

Everyone in the world walks around thinking they know the truth about themselves, their neighbors; they think they understand each other. But you have no idea. There is no limit to what we don’t know.
This is a wonderful book with a dark and brooding story, richly drawn characters, and a Swedish setting that is incredibly realistic. While it's essentially a crime novel, it is so much more and brings up questions about justice, community responsibility, and the damage we inflict on those around us both intentionally and accidentally. Reminiscent of Tana French's The Searcher, I highly recommend this one.

This book is quite a lot like other Nordic noir, like Hoeg in particular. Somewhat atmospheric, although visuals of environs are less sharp than I would have liked. I liked the way the author breaks up narration into three different points of view, and each pov character relates to the other povs well. There is a long sense of continuity of a search for answers over decades. And the book also tackles the repercussions of the search for truth on each of the characters. However, it does seem to discuss and hand-wring about uncertainties of knowing any truth a bit too much. It’s not exactly clear why the third protagonist is invested in solving the case at all. And, sure, not a lot happens but you got to admit the book is well written

Very much unlike your classic murder mystery. Set in Sweden, with just the right amount of characters to keep me guessing until the very end.

The only problem this book has is the need for an editor with a big red marker. It is way too long and needed an editor who could pare it down.

A gripping Swedish crime drama -- with a surprising twist at the end. Well done! And very dark . . .

I don't read a lot of crime novels because I'm not able to stay hooked to the story but this one had me captivated.
