Jordan discovers a dead body, and her estranged father is the prime suspect. She then is tasked to write a report at work on an embezzlement case - involving her father. She tries to find out more about this case by travelling to Italy, where her father had business in the past, but ends up finding more about her own past than she ever knew.
In this book you get the present story of Jordan, as well as a detailed look at the backstory of her father. It had some twists, and kept you guessing. I enjoyed this story.

I found it a bit slow to get going, but once it did I needed to read to the end in one sitting. I must admit I can’t give it 5 stars because I just couldn’t like Jordan, she had no tolerance or compassion and it really grated on me. However, I really enjoyed her father’s story and was much more invested in those characters. I enjoyed the puzzle fitting together near the end, but wish I could know more about Kathryn’s time throughout all this. I also think there’s the unanswered question about why Julius didn’t share his letter given his personality and relationship with Jordan.
In summary I found it a good read and will be looking into getting the second book; I really enjoyed uncovering the mystery at the same time as Jordan and it wasn’t what I was expecting.

This book was so hard to put down. There is so much suspense and many plot twists that keep you enthralled throughout the story. Jordan and Giancarlo are perfect and I love their budding relationship. I'm so excited to read the next book in the series!!

This book was like an interesting jigsaw puzzle with each bit of intricately designed story shrouded in mystery until they all started to slot together seamlessly towards the end. I will say that I enjoyed the parts in 1985 more than the parts with Jordan, I felt her character was a bit too immature and her personality frustrated me on more than one occasion. But all in all I really enjoyed this book and found it easy to get into and follow.

The twists and turn kept me reading, even when I found some a tad predictable.
Jordan is an interesting character with a lot of anger.
I really, surprisingly, enjoyed this.

I liked this one! It seemed to cross a few genres as there was a murder mystery, but also a but of a contemporary fiction book enfolded in this. I did not agree with / like the MC nor her choices, and I didn't really understand the reveal as it seemed a bit far-fetched, though perhaps it was just me. I did think this could either have lost a section or added a few more pages to even out the pacing. The middle 30% seemed to take quite a long time and the last 30% went by too quickly for me. Regardless, this was an incredibly imaginative and well-written book with an intriguing mystery at its core.
