I enjoy Burrough's plain style more than his cut and paste techniques.

This novel is almost a conduit, transferring ideas from history and the author's times through himself to us now. A book that has fashioned American culture.

I expected something like Hunter S Thompson, but this read more like Jack Kerouac (although I'd rather read Kerouac). Worth reading, and it's a quick read, but thin on plot. The focus is on junk. How he got it, where he got it, what they got, how they avoided arrest, etc. that's pretty much the book.

The copy I had included a variety of introductions printed with the book over time. These were illuminating and gave interesting info regarding the publication of the book.
