This book could've been so much more!
It's frustrating that the prequel amazed me, and the sequel is just okay.

ugh! full review yet to come....

**FULL REVIEW**

Me after that ending...

Hidden Huntress is about Cecile's quest. After being away in Trollus and then back to her reality, she lives in Trianon with her mother, performing on stages. While Cecile is hunting Anushka (the evil witch that cast the curse over the trolls). While Tristan is back at Trollus being punished for his actions.

Yes, despite some winces from my part, I liked the book. I didn't love it though. Therefore the three star rating. Took me a while to remember that Stolen Songbird had a sequel, and when I realised that Hidden Huntress was alredy out there for me to read, I was ecstatic!
I read the first one in 2014, so forgive for flinching at Tristan's age. Well written character, but his age kinda puts me off.
Anyway, there were some interesting plot twists that were heart wrenching. And some bits were too
obvious, like...

I think the only highlight for me was Cecile and Tristan's reunion....NO SPOILERS HERE...but *nudge nudge, wink wink*

But overall it was good, not as good as I expected, but yeah.

A fantastic follow-up! I feel like the story started feeling a bit more predictable during this book but I was still surprised by some of the revelations.

Okay, alright.

Got this corrected.

I was not the biggest fan of the first in this book, but figured why not.

Let's start with the obvious - we know who the witch is. Oh! You didn't? I guess you should read a couple more fantasy books.

It was a fairly fast paced book, but I still think it had so much more potential than what was put into this book - and I apologize if that is offending, I know how very much writing takes out of you. However, have you ever read one of those memes, it goes something like this : "Ever had to make a big decision and said wing it, when you most certainly should not wing it?"
Well that accurately describes every big decision in this book that our little heroine makes. I'm serious though. I can go back to the big events, promising the troll king, releasing Tristan, and then her last final big decision that she throws to the wind. It's just a little irritating. There is no rhyme or reason to these things - it's just "what she felt like." Uh.... Okay.

So there it is. The second book.

Not my favorite of DJs work. Saw the twist coming since the last book. Made it a bit hard to get through. Not going on to book 3.
