I actually read this book through Kindle Unlimited first, so I was excited to listen to it as an audiobook as well and I'm glad I did!! I loved the narrator's voice throughout. I will definitely look for more from both the author and the narrator in the future.
I had just read The Teacher by Freida McFadden before this so it gave me similar teacher-mystery vibes. I enjoyed reading multiple viewpoints and felt like the characters were developed well. The characters certainly all had flaws and secrets, which led to many twists and turns throughout the story. I wouldn't say that this story gave me any chills, but it was more of a mysterious read where I was suspicious of everyone at different points. I would recommend anyone giving this one a read/listen!
Thank you to Netgalley, Lauren North and Bolinda Audio for this ALC.

This is such a great cat and mouse thriller. As many suspicions as you have and as many times as you think you have it figured out, you most certainly do not. I went back and forth and round and round chasing the villain in this story Lol. I think you will enjoy!

Took a long time to get through, quite boring in parts.

Starting off with this is a slow-paced thriller BUT it has some big plots twists! I definitely didn’t expect the ending which I very much enjoyed because usually I can guess the ending of a thriller before it’s even there. I’m not saying I couldn’t figure anything out, I did but I was left with a few questions before the reveal. All this to say, it’s definitely worth reading if you like a slow thriller!

This book is set in England in a community called Leedham. Cate and Archie are the teacher and child that are missing as described in the book's synopsis. Oliver is the head teacher, the husband of Cate, and the father of Archie. Lexi is a substitute called in to cover Cate's class after she is reported missing and is met with an interesting community; nosy parents, nosy neighbors in the community, and a thick veil of mystery. Will Cate and Archie be found? Did Oliver have anything to do with his family going missing?
I did really enjoy this book once I was finally able to get into it. The first 6 chapters or so are a very slow burn, and as an avid reader who can read an entire novel in a few hours, this one took me about a week to muddle through those first chapters to get hooked. This book is filled with smoke and mirrors; when you think you have something figured out, a twist happens that changes your thoughts, all the way until the end. Overall, it's a good story but I did have to take one star off for how slow the beginning was as it didn't pique my interest within the first two chapters. When I read a book, I base my reviews on several factors: overall writing, character development, believability of the events, and whether or not I would recommend this book to others.

🎧 It delves straight into the storyline but I found it to be all over the place with alot of POV’s to contend with and it just got confusing. After such a build up and so drawn out for a good portion of the listen the actual storyline when it all came about was just meh and a little too convenient. I can’t say I really cared for any of the characters. This just didn’t work for me and just veered on the edge of unbelievable. The narrator did a good job and it’s one of the reasons I got to the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bolindo Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review #TheTeachersSecret

I enjoyed this twisty thriller, which followed multiple POV, and characters with questionable motives.
Popular teacher Mrs Walker, and her son Archie go missing on a normal school day. The event sends shockwaves through the school community, garnering suspicion amongst their ranks.
Centred around a school environment, the vibes of this story felt similar to Big Little Lies, the community full of secrets like a powderkeg about to explode. I really enjoyed trying to figure out the motivations of the different characters and figure out the ending (I didn't!). There were plenty of red herrings and twists - one in particular which made me want to go back and re-read because I didn't see it coming!
I found it a little hard to tell the difference between the female characters with the narration, but otherwise thought the narrator did a wonderful job - the voices added to the dark and creepy mood of the book without sounding melodramatic.
It was an easy read, and I recommend anyone looking to listen to an engaging, twisty and unpredictable thriller.
Thank you Bolinda Audio and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
