This is a collection of short stories by Machado de Assis. It is a very short book and the stories are entertaining. I loved one short story the most; The Education of a Poser. In this story, Machado critiques ''the elite'' in an enjoyable and sarcastic way. All his other stories could also be seen as a sarcastic criticism of the 19th-century Brazillian elite and wealthy population.
