I don't read romantic shoujo all that often, but I was drawn to this because of the cute little chick I saw in the preview, and while I am clearly not the main demographic of this, it was really cute and I enjoyed it. I bought the first two volumes, and I'll see about the following volumes depending how one storyline plays out.

Mein aller erster Manga! :)
Die Art Mangas zu lesen ist ein wenig gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber daran wird man sich bestimmt schnell gewöhnen. Die Zeichnungen sind natürlich ein Traum und die Geschichte war auch wirklich sehr niedlich.

They should release this in English. Yes, they should do it because I want to own it and reading scanlations online make me feel massive guilt.
(This was the last thing I read in 2011. /things)

Well normally I find romance manga a pain, since I prefer the actiony, comedy ones, but this one, this one is funny. I liked that while yes Hiyorin does have a crush on one guy and she spends most of the chapters trying to confess to him, she also deals with her own problems. Which is definitely cute! I definitely like that it's not singularly focused on the drama side of love.

This was a pretty cute manga.
I just find it quite annoying that her height is mentioned so much. As a small person myself I can say that my height isn't the only thing i think about.

This rating and review is for the completed volumes.
After an accident which led her to long-term hospitalization, Hiyoko needed to sum up courage to start her late freshman year with her acute anxiety and shyness. She never enjoyed school life because of that, and only had one best friend throughout the previous schooling years. But this year, on the first day back to school, she met Yusshin, a gangly boy of 190 cm with sunny attitude. With Hiyoko's height at 140 cm, the pair looked so mismatched they immediately became class' icon. Not only that, Yusshin persistence on befriending Hiyoko--which started with gave her her later-notorious nickname, Hiyorin--somehow made Hiyoko's high school life started to get better.
What I love the most from this series is not the main characters, somehow, but the side characters. In other shojo manga, you'll find what I called as "high school class" trope, which consisted of loyal besties, bullies, popular girls/boys, unpopular girls/boys, delinquents, etc. I cannot find any of them in this story. Instead of school setting with all of that, Hiyorin and Yusshin's school gave the most positive class setting I've ever encountered in my experience reading school-setting manga. Instead of bully Hiyorin and let Yusshin and her best friend Ricchan as her sole savior, the WHOLE class helped Hiyorin to fit in.
They're all nice and precious babies without a single malicious intent I love them all! It's nice to read a manga where the class residents are getting along so well with each other, even the character who will get labeled as unpopular nerd in other manga was mentioned as "poised and elegant". I really, really love this school and classes! Hiyorin is so lucky to enrolled into such precious, positive school so she can finally learn to get out of her shyness and made friends on her own. *hugs my babies*

Ich fand die Handlung mega sinnfrei und nervig. Der Zeichenstil ist aber so richtig mein Fall, daher gebe ich Band 2 noch eine Chance. Viel Hoffung, dass es besser wird habe ich aber nicht. :(
