This book has a very mysterious tone that culminates in an ambiguous ending. The reader can come to their own conclusions about the rules of the protagonist and her world.
I almost immediately decided Alex was a ghost but I’m not quite sure how I would explain her death or interactions with the other characters.

I really enjoy Cline’s writing style it’s to the point yet uses interesting imagery and that portrays her characters as brutally honest.

LOVED this. unfortunately the ending didn’t quite have the same juice as the rest of the novel. still, I was on the edge of me seat. Thank you problematic female character 💕

This novel is more literary fiction than  thriller. It reminded me of a long-form short story. It also reminded me of the tension and class-consciousness of White Lotus. The main character is a deeply flawed young woman whose insights into other people are often spot-on. She is a predator, looking for ways to manipulate the people around her at all times, but she is also vulnerable and fragile. This might be what it's like inside the mind of a psychopath. This is a book I will chew on for a long time.

idk this was pretty boring. Not super fun to read about a pedophile woman just like being annoying and stupid for this long. I absolutely loved 'The Girls' so I'm disappointed but w/e.

Felt like it could have been shorter. What kept me hooked was how very stressful it was to watch this character consistently make the most absurd choices and think, that in a place like the Hamptons, people wouldn't be able to trace her back to her actions. Just wanted to see if she would have to answer for her actions
Could've done without everything that happens with Jack, but I guess the author felt it was necessary to the plot to show how the messiness of Alex.

Overall, it was good, but could've been shorter.

I really love Emma Cline’s writing; definitely a book that sucks you in. However, I think the second half had some pacing issues and the ending was disappointing. Feels almost unfinished.
