This is the second book in the series. I wanted it to get better, but alas.... The "bad guys" are so over the top, they are not believable. The MCs were a little more relatable, Estella's character is a bit more chill with her sex appeal.

The second installment in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society is another page turner. In this book some parts of Nora's personality bothered me, how she is always jumping to the wrong conclusions before hearing both sides as one example. There were also a few instances in the Audiobook where some of the characters were mixed up, I only noticed because they were at pivotal moments in the story, I don't know if this was the fault of the narrator or the author. The mystery was a little more obvious than the first book in this series, but in the end it came as a total shock, I'm pretty sure I gasped outloud on a walk.

The young woman who showed up in Miracle Books at the end of the last book is in need of some practical as well as other help. However, when one of Nora's customers ends up dead of a supposed suicide, Nora, since she was unable to help this woman in life, feels compelled to give her the rest she deserves. But when a connection between the victim and the young woman stray, Abiliene, Nora isn't sure what to think anymore. And when another death, and another follow the first tragedy, Nora must protect herself, her new society members, and her town, even if it means being in a jail cell.
