Beautiful artwork! Some of the accessories have either changed or stayed true to the original series instead of the old US print I had. Same with the attacks. Still gorgeous!

This is a nice start to the Sailor Moon series and gives a nice insight into the series. It's very similar to the anime, but it's not as fairytale-like and you get a better look into the personalities of the other scouts (not just Sailor Moon).

I've waited a long time for this to come out. This part of the story I am pretty familiar with, but I was pleased to have an accurate English translation in my hands.

I will always be blown away by the effortless elegance of Takeuchi's art.

The translation was a bit stilted and formal in many places. The Mixx translation, though less accurate I'm sure, felt much more lively. Including the color pages was a nice bonus on Kodansha's part. I also would have been prepared to pay more for this volume if the printing was of higher quality, but I guess that's the market and you take what you can get.

Well, I have been trying to get around to reading this book for incredibly too long. I would always get it from the library and either never have time to read it or else would only get around to reading the first bit of it and then have to turn it back in. I can now proudly say that I have conquered reading this manga! Once I got into it, it really wasn't a long read, though I would say it took longer than a lot of other mangas I have read, and may have a bit more dialogue involved.

There is some cheesiness to it, which of course is reflective in the show and movies as well, particularly of some of the "moves" and the villains. However, it is a fun read just as it is a fun show. I loved being introduced to all the sailors so far, Sailor V being the only one not to show up yet. I love each of the sailor's unique personalities (Mercury is my favorite) and I love Tuxedo Mask and the mystery and intrigue involving his and the others' dreams which are slowly trying to reconnect them to their previous lives.

I can see why Sailor Moon is popular, and I might stick with the series to see how characters develop. The writing (especially of the first few issues) is irritatingly repetitive, and does little to develop characters beyond caricatures (the whiny/lazy one, the smart/hardworking one, the mysterious one, etc).
