Where to begin with this volume! So many things answered - like why Rukia execution was moved up in date, what Gin has really up to, what happened with Momo and Aizen,- just SO many answers. Of course, there so many things that need to be handled and I'm sure new questions will pop up. Sides were clearly drawn in this volume.

This was just shocking. When I saw this moment in the animé I was utterly shocked, yet the panels of the manga makes those moments hit much more. Yet I loved how the plot twist was presented and how the characters acted and figured out some things. Yet, as I have watched OTB cor 2, I could not help but feel that Captain felt more impressed by Aizen and not shock or horror that her lieutenant.

“No one ever stood atop the heavens before.
Not you...
Or I...
Or the gods.
But the unbearable vacancy of those heavens ends now.
From now on, I will stand at the top.”

Yowza, that’s one hell of a bad guy mission statement. Holy crap! This arc opened the door for a mega-exciting story to come. I got so many answers but still somehow ended up with more questions.

This volume is absolutely non-stop action. It never lets up, not until the very last page, and the plot twists and turns just keep coming. I love the parallels between Renji and Ichigo, Aizen’s awesome villainy, Byakuya’s sudden, unexpected rescue of Rukia, the depiction of the betrayal “Doggie” feels, the quick flashbacks to demonstrate the impact of events on certain characters. All of it is very well done and every single panel contributes to the climactic, frenzied feel of the events unfolding.
