This duet absolutely did not need to be two books. The sheer volume of miscommunication and false conflict introduced to keep the story going made the main characters rather insufferable by the end. MMC was largely irredeemable and FMC’s mental gymnastics to forgive his cruel behavior every time became exhausting.

SPOILER REVIEW: When I say I was on the edge of my seat from page one I MEAN IT. I ate this book up from start to finish, I could NOT put it down. It had my heart racing from the jump. The opening scene/sequence was amazing. The character development and the way the problems from the previous book weren’t solved in the first 10 pages was what I loved most. What can I say, I’m a sucker for conflict. This duet of books is easily a top 10 for me. Ruslan, at times I wanted to bang your head against a wall and scream “SIT DOWN AND LISTEN FOR ONCE” but you made up for it. I loved LOVED the family that was built over these two books. I also love when we don’t have redeemable villains. BRING BACK IRREDEEMABLE VILLAINS! Ben, Vadim, Remmy, ugh, I was putty in Nicole Fox’s hands. Some parts were predictable but the way it was written made me want to keep going!  Can’t wait to read another of her books.

This sequel was action-packed and offered a satisfying conclusion but there was so much unnecessary angst in the middle.

Daaaaaamn. Nicole Fox does Bratva romance RIGHT. I’ll definitely be reading more of her duets when I’m craving some mafia romance in the future. I was wholly invested in the characters, the tension and action were on point, and the romance was swoony for sure. I did figure out one of the main twists pretty early, but I’m not complaining. And, ugh, Ruslan with those kiddos? Melt. My. Heart.
