This story is not necessarily new or unique for its genre, but I had a great time reading it.
Positives:
Positives:
- The story was engaging and the characters intriguing enough to put up with the sometimes overly cheesy writing.
- I loved the forest vibes - dark and mysterious and vaguely witchy.
- I loved Hera so much, I think she was the best character in the book.
- I love a happy ending.
Negatives:
- The last few chapters almost made me roll my eyes with how convenient the events were leading up to the big reveal.
- A grown-ass adult character constantly making self-deprecating remarks about her physical appearance is off-putting and annoying.
Read in one big fat gulp my kind of mossy atmospheric “mystery” — very like Kate Morton — and even though it was 800 pages and could have been days of reading I couldn’t put it down and read it in one mad four hour marathon.

The Glass House is a mystery based on family secrets which follows two characters, Rita and Hera, in 1971, and Sylvie in the present day. Initially I was only interested in the past story, of Rita and the Harrington family in 1971. But as it continued, I found both timelines intriguing. Clues were dropped equally in both sides and it came together so well. I did guess where it was all going but it was good to see the story unfold.
I think the ending could have been fleshed out more, since one of the characters did something (essentially it was revealed that they'd told lies about something) but then that was quickly overruled with no explanation in the next chapter. So I found myself wishing that she'd either not done it at all, or that the author had revealed what happened when the lies were discovered. Did she end up telling the truth, and was there any fall out from that? Did she try to hide it and the lies were discovered anyway? There was nothing in the ending to give much of an inkling, it was just all brushed over.

Struggled with the characters at the start of this book. It flips from one person and time to the another and I couldn't keep up with who was who. There's a couple of name changes which don't help in this book. It was ok. Not great. I quite enjoyed the ending the last 30% with swift. It's a family drama, think Virginia Andrews but not quite as good.
