2.5 This is a book for people who a) like "I knew they were my mate when I first saw them" fast romance, and b) would try to gather all the kittens before fleeing from a dragon trying to kill them. The first one applies to me rarely and the second one never. Sorry kittens.
My favorite parts were the kittens crawling all over the panther, and pretty much any interaction between Tessa and Darius.

Panther shifter and kittens
Loved how the author mixed in her job with story. She works at a cat rescue and who can resist a guy with kittens all over him. Different twist on shifter families which was interesting. Enjoyed the twist and turns and how they worked together. Can be read as a standalone but some characters from previous book do make an appearance in this one. Would say can read our of order but did enjoy seeing characters I liked showing up here.

Plot, humour action scenes, dragons, love, more dragons, the heroine AGAIN saving the day, this time with smarts. Basically its everything I want in a shifter romance, and a box of kittens besides. (The kittens were really cute!)
I loved Ben's endless and increasingly byzantine family drama, and how tangled up in it all he could get. There were some great bits of world building in there, and I liked how the dragon shifter politics worked so differently from the "conventional" animal ones. Tessa was a great heroine, and I loved her cool under pressure and tangle of issues and how all that also tied into the larger plot. It was really well put together, and very enjoyable.
Looking forward to Melody and the bookstore. (I am finding the and then they moved to an idyllic small town! endings a bit jarring, but I guess that's the convention of the genre.)

What is a book that has shifters and kittens and dragons, all mixed in with a dash of love on the run?

A surprisingly fun shifter romance.
Now, I haven't tried Zoe Chant's books, really, but I'm always willing to give an author a shot (especially on KU), so I picked up this series. The world that was established in the first book in the series expands and the story is just stronger, as are the characters. I loved that we have a prickly, strong heroine in Tessa and a heroic, but not invincible shifter in Ben. He's still big and strong, but he's not inhuman proportions. Tessa is still vulnerable, but she can and has taken care of herself.
Did I mention kittens?

I mean, picture this - panther shifter hero covered in kittens. Yes, it got points just for that bit of adorableness.
There's even a bit of a twist at the end that I thought was clever and gave the story a bit more oomph. It's still not particularly deep, and the love still pretty insta, but it's not a bad read. It's my favorite of the series so far. If you love shifter romances and you want to try out this series, I would pick this book.
