Compassionate, detailed, and inclusive of multiple faith traditions, this book is a lovely introduction to the choices we can make for the end of our lives that care for our community and the Earth at the same time. By documenting her research journey, author Mallory McDuff offers thoughtful reflections on the growing number of natural or sustainable burial options available today. She ties these burial options, some of which are new and others centuries old to our spiritual, religious, and cultural traditions. She reminds us that modern burial practices (namely the use of embalming, caskets, and vaults) are not how we have always buried our dead, and that there are gentler and more communal ways of returning our bodies to dust.
