Very helpful book to delve into writing the blurb for a book, which, in my experience is surprising difficult. The advice Robert gives is deep with good examples and he does not reassure with a simple, one-size-fits-all formula. This is a book I will return to often as I work to hone my copywriting chops.

Excellent
I love the author's writing style and honesty and am grateful that I found this book. It is easy to understand and covers areas most authors struggle with.

A Good Guide
First thing: I loved the fact that this book wasn't riddled with examples. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing examples to understand any advice better, but there's a difference between "an example" and "the examples."
This book was concise and gave me a lot of info. I'm now going to check out the one on Amazon Ads.

Excellent book, a lot of useful information about blurbs and copywriting in general. I would highly recommend this book, not just to indies.

Good book. Easy read, with excellent points made. This book is specifically about writing those blurbs or summaries (Ryan wouldn't like that word) that appear on Amazon. The tips will apply elsewhere, though.

I had no idea there was so much to learn about writing a book blurb.
But after reading this book, I'm not only convinced of the importance of writing a readable and clear blurb, but also how difficult the process can be.
Ryan has a peculiar writing style that took awhile to grow on me. But after reaching the halfway point of the book something clicked and his sincere advice for digging for the truth and being skeptical of any advice on copywriting (including his) came through loud and clear.
My ability to write copy to persuade and convince has definitely been strengthened after reading this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants or hopes to sell more books in the future.

There are a lot of books out there marketed towards authors.
In part, because being an author means wearing not just a few but a seemingly infinite amount of hats.
Writing book blurbs is an entirely different set of skills from writing a novel and for a lot of us, the worst part of the whole ordeal. Robert's book takes a different approach than a lot of the other blurb books on the market. Instead of approaching blurbs from the perspective of an author with anecdotal evidence or their own research into copywriting, Robert was a copywriter who writes novels.
His insight can be revelatory or reaffirming, depending on your level of knowledge. He urges critical thinking and doing your own research, which is good.
My only qualms is that there perhaps were not enough solid examples of what good copywriting and good blurbs look like and he rejects taking an authoritative voice throughout the book. I understand the reasoning here, but at the same time, he's teaching copywriting and doing a pretty good job at it.

A fast, easy read, with a bit of possibly dubious information and a few useful points of view different from the mainstream.
