I loved the characters and the setting. The MCs were so relatable. I’ve never been to the Singapore region but now it’s on my bucket list because the food sounds so amazing. I kept stopping to look up the food. Such a fun read and a great addition to my collection.

biggest thanks to @penguinbookssea for providing me an advanced reader copy of this book. 🩵
Cheese Donuts are Most Definitely Not Subpar was a cute and heartwarming read. it’s one of those books that you’ll definitely need to get relax after a stressful week. i thoroughly enjoyed this one!!
there were so many scenes that made me laugh and swoon. the characters were all so effortlessly adorable, and the humor was funny.
i really loved the relationship between Ellie and Dion. the chemistry between them was off the charts. Dion had cold exterior, but at his core, he’s one big ol’ softie. the way he took care of Ellie when she was on period made my heart melt in the spot.
Ellie was a strong, determined, and beautiful heroine. i saw parts of myself reflected in her struggles, and i was pleased to see that she was getting more and more confident in herself throughout the story.
i couldn’t end this review without talking about the setting of this book. i completely understand that Jakarta, with its unavoidable traffic jams, it’s far from refreshing, but like the author mentioned, it also has many exceptionally interesting places and experiences to offer — a wide range of international schools, numerous shopping malls, etc. i love my hometown and reading about it made me so happy!!
overall, this was a good romcom book and it was very engaging. i highly recommend it !!
