Ok, I love the idea of hygge and was excited to read a book about how to create hygge in the American life. Parts of this book delivered. Create a work-life balance. Great. Clean up clutter. Got it.
This book has some specificity, though, that is over the top. It's wildly stern about wall colors and music for entertaining and throw pillows, etc. Additionally, it seems to estimate that the reader has more available time and disposable income than I think most readers actually have. I also didn't love the flow of it. The book ended incredibly abruptly.
The author did a nice job of giving very specific steps for each area of your life, and the recipes she included will probably be helpful to a certain set of folks. It just... Wasn't the warm and inviting book that you would imagine a book about hygge would be. 3.5 stars.

don’t agree with many of her proclamations, such as being pro-overhead lights in bedrooms

Got very preachy without much in the way of useful advice for incorporating hygge into your life.

this was terrible. I was expecting some kind of discussion on, well, American coziness, not an entire book about how The Danes Do It Right And Perfectly actually. the complete lack of just any sort of compromise, that This Is The Way was ridiculous especially when they talked about limiting colors and?? pillows??? as well as just the lack of applicable advice. the book also stopped so abruptly out of nowhere that I genuinely thought I was experiencing an ebook error, and was meandering and pointless. absolutely terrible and I’m shocked it has as good a rating as it does.

It Americanizes a lot of hygge elements and puts them in a bad light or makes them worse. it promotes producing a lot of waste which in my opinion it's not a very hygge way of being. She says don't use Taupe because is too blah but to use beige instead. They're so similar though? I don't think this book is really worth the time or effort read "The Little Book of Hygge" instead.
