Can’t believe Piggie had no idea what his toy was before loudly complaining that Elephant destroyed it.

Very cute. You can see this really happening between two kids. The kids just happen to be a pig and an elephant in this case.

Having 2 boys who go through toys very quickly - I thought this was great and I am going to try it next year for my New Year's toy story time.

An excellent read-aloud. Violet enjoyed it a lot. So much that she read it over and over to herself. She's becoming a big fan of the Elephant and Piggie series, even if we're not so fond of the pigeon series.

The ending seemed a bit like a copout. Or maybe I just have super high expectations from this incredible author/illustrator.

Piggie gets a new toy....and Elephant breaks it. Tensions rise.

Mo Willems is a genius at humorous and heartfelt books for readers. If I can share one of his books at storytime, I will. I Love My New Toy! fit with the shiny theme because new toys are usually shinier than old toys. This read was also very emotional, so it was great fun to read aloud. Children and adults enjoyed the story of Piggie's new toy.

2012 Storytime Theme: Shiny
2019 Storytime Theme: Toys / Play
Additional themes: pigs, elephants, friends, toys
