This is a great book to read to your youngest brother while you’re distracting him from Santa coming down from the chimney

I don't let a December go by without reading this Little Golden Book. I've had it since I was 2-years-old, and it was a childhood favorite. But I'm finally adding it because I did re-read it today and want to start rating some of my childhood books.

I still adore it because of how sweet and precious the story is with Poky's first Christmas and learning about giving and helping those in need.

Definitely recommend for kiddos. As someone who's still re-reading it yearly 27 years after she got it, I can say it may become a beloved keepsake for them, too!

The Poky Little Puppy meets a new skunk friend at Christmas when they learn through helping each other that the best gifts are those that are given.

When I was a little girl I remember reading many of the Golden Book series and The Poky Little Puppy was probably one of my most favourite books in the series, so when I discovered this book I was absolutely ecstatic to discover it.

This book was a sweet little story featuring The Poky Little Puppy demonstrating the real spirit of Christmas. We see the cheeky antics of The Poky Little Puppy in that he was easily distracted by things going on around him and then lagging behind the rest of the group because of it. The distraction for Poky this time was a little skunk, called Herman, who was the victim of humans cutting down a Christmas tree which fell onto Herman’s home, a hollow log. Poky found an old rubber boot which he gave to Herman as an alternative home to his now smashed log.

This is a wonderful story for everybody, old and young alike.

Really cute little story. Except that my first thought about the hollow log was "that's probably someone's home and they break it. Merry Christmas, someone..."

I always loved the Poky Little Puppy as a kid. Today while I was working with a student, they picked this book out and I got so excited because I didn’t know there were spin offs of the book. I absolutely loved it.
