Felt honored to have read this. What a blessing I get to have this man's life (that is the picture of grace) spoken into mine. The book seems to give a new layer of depth to previous work's of Brennan's after you've read it.
The Lord surely prompted Brennan to write a memoir such as this just two years before his death.

Now a prodigal I’ll always be
yet still my Father runs to me.
All is grace.

I loved this book! It was a beautiful image of the grace that Brennan Manning has devoted so much of his life to sharing, and in these pages he shows clearly why. Brennan shares the brokenness and pain that he's carried in his own life, the kind of honest reflection on his own failures that can only come with both age and intimate understanding of the salvation of Christ. Deeply moving and reflective, I cannot recommend this text enough for an understanding of the most crucial, and often most overlooked, element of the Christological experience
God Loves Us
The message that God loves us cannot be heard often enough. When you get tired of trying to follow all the religious rules, try grace, it is enough.
“Jesus Christ is crazy about you. He loves you just as you are, not as you should be.”

Usually "superstar" Christians (or most Christians?) feel like they have to keep their failings under wraps. This, inevitably, has a tendency to blow up in a spectacular fashion. Not so with Brennan Manning. His failures are uncomfortable, his brokenness and vulnerability an unnerving example. This book and Shrink have got me thinking a lot about the spiritual significance of not having it all together
Heartfelt Reflection
I would put this in my category of books that help me love Jesus more deeply. Or maybe, as Brennan would put it, that help me realize just how much my Father loves, even likes, me "as I am and not how I should be." It was a refreshing and quick read. I'm thankful to be able to peer into the life of an older saint, reflecting honestly on his own life and ministry - and, in a picture of his own humility, completely missing just how influential and powerful his life has been for so many people over the years. Recommended reading.

Such a small book, but such a beautiful one. Brennan is honest about his life, and about his love for the God who loves us just as we are, not as we should be. I can't comprehend this God who still loves us even when we remain a mess. I hope that it is true, for the sake of all us ragamuffins out there.
Brennan Manning had help writing this memoir and it helped his writing. I enjoyed this book more than Ragamuffin Gospel, and the insight into who Brennan Manning was.
