Such a beautiful, tell-all insight into Naya Rivera’s life. This book oozes the personality of a woman that inspired so many people and had a fabulous career. I enjoyed the experience of hearing more about her life before fame and would highly recommend listening to her read the audiobook. Is so wonderful to hear her story immortalised in her own words and her own voice. May she rest in peace.

I mean, the content was interesting and I'm glad I listened to the audio instead of reading it, but the writing was extremely basic.

I never watched glee, it never interested me. I have never been able to tolerate Lea Michelle, she drives me insane. But for some reason I really got caught up in Naya’s Disappearance A few weeks ago. I began googling clips from the show and bawled my fucking eyes out when I watched her belt out “if I die Young“. Honest to God, I could not stop crying, listening to her sing and watching her lose it before she finished the song. I have no emotional attachment to these characters but her singing the song, and knowing her likely fate, was overwhelming. So I decided to read this to get to know her a little bit better and I’m glad I did although it is so sad to read some of her statements and know that they will never become reality.
Review to come maybe.

I was a huge fan of glee when I was in middle school and her passing last year really affected me, because of what she meant to me as both her character in the show and just as a person even years after glee ended. I spent a lot of years just watching her Instagram updates pop in my feed every once in a while, watching her son grow up and just seeing her enjoying her life, that when I heard the news of her disappearance and then the confirmation of her death... I just lost it and I actually cried a lot over it.
So yeah, when I came across the audiobook of her book, narrated by her, I couldn’t help myself.
And I really had a good time. It’s just her life story and yes, her life wasn’t perfect and definitely not everything she did was good. But that’s just how life is, it’s full of mistakes and morally grey areas. I would be lying if I said I agreed with everything she talked about in the book, but nobody is perfect, and I believe there isn’t a unique way to be a good person. This also was written a few years ago, therefore in a different time, so, overall, morals and what’s viewed as right or wrong has also changed. This book is just a very honest storytelling of all her mishaps.
It was really entertaining and listening to her own voice narrating it was a very special experience.
I hope that wherever she is, she is at peace.
(I apologize for any grammar mistake, it’s been a while since the last time I tried to collect my thoughts and write them down in English)

3.5 stars rounded up. I hate to admit that this memoir peaked my interest after the news of her death. The book was an easy read and I did learn more about her life (especially things that I had absolutely no clue about - if you’re wanting to read it, I won’t spoil it). However, I found myself a little annoyed at the writing style so I couldn’t give it a higher rating.
