what i loved about this book is that it made me THINK. not only did it make me think, but it made me appreciate my life & appreciate everything around me. this is the kind of book that makes you stop and analyze your life a little bit and kind of takes you out of that mind hole you can find yourself in, due to life’s distractions. i think this book should be required for everybody to read because it just reminds of what it is important to know in life, instead of getting caught up in the rush of life. throughout enjoyed :))

My thought:
I found many points here that were similar to those in Jay Shetty’s book “Think Like a Monk”. About how to focus on ourselves, to see the true values of ourselves, to find peace inside, to find joy, and many more. This book is certainly good for you readers who don’t want to spend much time reading a thick book full of motivational paragraphs. This book’s as light as lite, yet it made me grow.

Reading this was like a crash course in therapy, haha! But I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with depression, anxiety, or just going through a rough patch. Obviously, this is not a substitute of any kind for medical treatment of clinical conditions, but rather a companion to treatment and a tool for healing. That said, this would be a great book for a therapist and client to explore together, especially with the number of short vignettes it contains!

I enjoyed this, but I borrowed it from the library. It is not a great book to read over the course of a few days. Instead, it probably needs to sit somewhere and be consumed slowly.

Well, if this isn’t the most aptly named book…
With the word ‘comfort’ in its title, I expected Matt Haig’s latest book to comfort me in some way, but I was blown away by how well it delivered. The Comfort Book is perfect for anyone who has or is currently going through a tough time, which I’d imagine applies to just about everyone (except for those rare unicorns who go through life all hunky dory, unphased by hardship, if they exist?)
It’s not that Haig has written much that hasn’t been said in some way shape or form before, but he does so in a way that feels simultaneously simple and profound. He just has a way of saying the perfect things to put one’s mind and soul at peace. I could’ve read this is one sitting, but I found myself trying to slow down and savor it, really allowing myself time to reflect and allow each message to sink in.
This will for sure be a multiple-time reread for me and I’ve already gifted it to my mom and pressed it to many of my friends. If you are seeking a little solace in the form of encouragement, self-love, forgiveness, hope, or ancient wisdom, I highly recommend this little gem of a book.
