I'm in a reading slump, but managed to finish this wonderful little story.
I love Beauty and the Beast and cannot wait for the movie!!
I have to say this story was sweet, quite short, and magical. I really enjoyed it <3

I originally rated this 3 stars, but upon reflection, I’ve definitely given it an extra star out of pity. It’s very difficult to view the source material objectively without my mind flitting to the Disney animation that I grew up with. And here lies the problem – I enjoyed Disney’s version of events much, much more. The Beast isn’t much of a beast here. The ‘love’ between Beauty and the Beast felt forced and out of nowhere (well technically it was just Stockholm Syndrome). And there are barely any descriptions of the wondrous castle, and again my mind fills the gaps by pulling things from Disney. Story just felt flat. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t worth reading.

Another classic short story that I decided to download for free on my Kindle...it was a short, sweet read and makes me want to watch the Disney version of this book all over again.

A very different tale from that of Disney's animated feature. Much more emphasis on Belle's beautiful nature and no enchanted cutlery. A very interesting fairy tale to read in the original.

The original French fairy tale, which surprisingly I hadn't read before. I listened to the audio on Craft Lit and it was very enjoyable.

This is way different than I thought it would be. I didn't know that

Beast had her for so long and was kind to her the entire time. Beauty also cared more for looks in this than it was let on from other versions, but not entirely. It was nice to read the original and see where the Disney version adapted from.whalesnark's review against another edition
