DNF with 1 hour & 50 minutes left. This story was okay. I had a hard time following it because I was listening while driving, and the sound levels are very up and down. The parts where the performers were talking quietly/whispering were far too quiet, and the action sequences were crazy loud in comparison. I couldn't find a comfortable listening volume. Besides the sound issues, the characters felt flat, and I wasn't invested in the plot. The monsters were unique, and I liked the action sequences.

This was free from audible and I was instantly hooked. Incredible story, voice narration was amazing and they use sound effects to make it more real. It felt as though I was actually there!

I cannot deny I had fun listening to this audio drama. The monsters were fun, the main characters were good. Although I will say it screamed YA all the way through, which made the overall story suffer. It had more potential than it was able to bring forth. The performers were great for the roles they read. If you don't mind the YA touches, want a little paranormal fun, take a listen.

The thing about this is, that the premise is decent and could have been a good story, but the execution was not ideal.

This is just like the old radio shows and that's awesome! I do wish that I had some more background knowledge of the creatures and stuff they're going against in the first place, but without some kind of connection book or something, that's kind of impossible. Awesome story!

Cool story, however the audio quality is poor. It's likely deliberate for at least some portions, but it ends up making the whole production seem low quality. It was free, so I can't complain too much! Interesting listen, in an old timey listening to the radio serials kind of way.

I'll start with some positives:
- The world building was good. And I did like how the characters were connected (even if they don't into the details of how exactly they're connected).
- I'll also give the narrators credit for performing what's essentially a radio drama. Even though it was really hard to imagine what was going on (this probably should have been a graphic novel) I can imagine acting this out was a challenge.
- I did like the music. Sounded a bit like Doctor Who.

But I had lots of other issues.
- The sound was all over the place and I would constantly lower or raise the volume.  Then the sound effects would be too loud but the dialogue too low.
- Sometimes the characters would sound like they were in an echoed room or in a tape recorded, but for no good reason.
- Some action scenes dragged on too long. It would just be noise and like I said I couldn't imagine what was going on.
- Fiona would sometimes get on my nerves. Pushing down her feelings. And I know she's a mom worried about her son, but it got receptive to hear her constantly protect Ethan. She also sounded too young to be Ethan's mother.
- One sideline plot (the toads) was total filler. I didn't like that story and at first was holding off judgment to see if it connected to the overall plot.  It doesn't, so it was a waste of time.

The negatives outweigh the positives so I'm giving this  2 out of 5 Tape Recorders.

Audio book review.
DNF

This is meant to be a podcast format, I think, but it's so poorly recorded, I can't follow much of what's going on, and it's soooo distracting. I can't keep listening, this is driving me nuts. This voice is loud and clear, another is super quiet with background noise layered over it. Can't stand the sound layering and the changes in volume.
